Sometimes you see a sign and then camp out in front of it waiting for something interesting to happen.

One problem with rangefinders is parallax, and it can be hard to “line up” a bunch of things accurately. Sometimes the combination of shutter lag and slow reflexes can save you, depending on what direction things are moving :).
